The Ubuntu Way: Why I’m Building a Community for Personal Growth and Lasting Change

Becoming a coach has brought some of the most rewarding and transformative experiences that I’ve made in my life. Over the past decade, I've immersed myself in performance coaching, especially for swimmers, long after I hung up my own cap and goggles. Truthfully, I never even entertained the idea until I had an opportunity to help someone that I knew ahead of an Ironman that they were competing in.

There was a time when I couldn’t have imagined waking up every morning before 4:30AM to coach for two hours before “going to work”. Training for myself at that hour had always felt like a daunting task, let alone dedicating those early mornings to support others. But in doing so, I discovered a profound sense of purpose.

Now, I’m excited to share some big news: I’m moving to Austin, Texas. I will be formally launching a Lifestyle Coaching business that focuses on personal growth, discipline, and fulfillment. Through a supportive coaching structure and highly personalized goal-setting strategies, I equip people with the tools they need to reach their physical, personal, and professional goals.

Like many of you, I’ve experienced firsthand how challenging it is to stay disciplined and focused on personal aspirations. We’re surrounded by advice on how to be healthier, more productive, and more fulfilled, but the real struggle often lies in the how—finding practical tools and genuine support to make it happen. Achieving ambitious goals isn’t just about discipline; it’s about having the right strategies and, sometimes, someone to remind you why you started.

This is where Ubuntu comes in. Ubuntu, a South African philosophy meaning “I am because we are,” speaks to the essence of our interconnectedness. It’s a principle that has shaped my life and career, reminding me that personal growth is enriched when we support and uplift each other. The Ubuntu Way is built on this foundation, empowering individuals not only with the necessary tools but also with the strength of a like-minded community, making lasting change possible.

To bring this vision to life, The Ubuntu Way offers programs that go beyond surface-level goal-setting:

  • Healthy Habits Checklists: Personalized daily actions to build positive routines and track progress. These are developed to challenge you at your current ability and to work with your lifestyle.

  • Daily or Weekly Check-ins: Consistent support to keep goals in focus, refine strategies, and maintain accountability. Never feel alone in the journey again.

  • Assisted Workouts & Personal Training: Programs that strengthen both body and mind, fostering resilience and discipline.

  • Swimming Coaching & Programming: Swimming Coaching for all abilities. I have trained beginners and athletes competing at World Championships.

  • 30-Day Boot Camps: Coming Soon! We will own and operate a facility that you can book for 30 days at a time. We will have private accommodation, a gym onsite, and fulltime support and mentorship. We will work extensively together over the month to create lasting change.

  • Wilderness Retreats: Coming Soon! Immersive experiences that will connect individuals to their purpose in nature. We strive to host these in the African wilderness.

My mission is to create a space where you feel empowered to tackle your toughest challenges knowing that you have my full support. Whether it’s a check-in call to talk through obstacles or in-person help on difficult days, I’ll be there every step of the way. Sometimes, just knowing someone is sharing the journey with you makes all the difference. The Ubuntu Way is about achieving peak performance in personal growth, discipline, and fulfillment—and together, we’ll make sure you get there.

Join me on this journey, because we’re stronger and more capable when we grow together.
